A trio of three-star talents, Terrence Upshaw (Duluth, Ga./Northview), Anthony Covington (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) and Dante Jones (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast), have all signed to play for Appalachian State, according to a release issued by the school's official Web site.

Upshaw, the nation's No. 59-rated running back, was previously committed to both South Alabama and Samford before inking with the Mountaineers. He was also offered by Buffalo and Vanderbilt. ESPN, which considers Upshaw a BCS talent, writes in his evaluation, "Upshaw is a very productive all-purpose running back that plays bigger than his size." He rushed for 1,267 yards and scored 31 total touchdowns as a senior.

Covington was originally slated to play for Pittsburgh. The No. 51-rated safety also claimed offers from East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami-FL, Minnesota, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest. ESPN likes his instincts and ability to support the run.
