Cal picked up a commitment from Atwater (Calif.) Buhach Colony offensive lineman Matthew Cochran, who chose the Bears over Tennessee at the Semper Fi Bowl.

Cochran took official visits to Auburn and Washington in addition to the Bears and Vols, but Cal was always a heavy leader. Cochran camped with the Bears over the summer and took his visit to Berkeley for Cal’s huge recruiting weekend in early December.

“I really bonded with all the recruits there and even the players on the team,” Cochran said following the visit. "Everyone was saying, 'If you commit, I will,' things like that, and just looking around the room and seeing how much talent was there was pretty incredible.”

Cochran may not be the last player from Buhach Colony to announce for Cal. The Bears are heavily involved with defensive tackle Aziz Shittu and may in fact lead for him.
