There is a lot of star power in this class and hopefully it will pan out better than the 2008 class did for Miami. I’m going to give you not one, but two players who I really like--it’s bonus time with #AskLoogs. First, let’s start off with QB-PP Brad Kaaya (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade). Miami deserves a ton of credit as James Coley was onto Kaaya back in march before most even knew who he was. Tough, gritty, even-tempered and accurate, Kaaya just gets better the more you watch him. Not all that different than current Miami starter Stephen Morris. Second, ATH/RB Brandon Powell (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) who is a running back version of former South Carolina playmaker Ace Sanders. Powell is undersized, but is lightning in a bottle. His stature has prevented higher recruiting interest, but big things come in small packages. He is a change-of-pace back that is terrific in space. I believe both players could be significant contributors in Miami’s quest for resurgence.
