According to a release issued by the school's official site, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has announced the addition of four players to the team's roster. Included on the list is ESPNU 150 quarterback Gunner Kiel (Columbus, Ind./East), who was publically committed to LSU.
This figures to end the unusual recruitment of Kiel. The four-star prospect originally committed to Indiana in July over Alabama and Oklahoma among others. Kiel then announced he was "re-evaluating" his decision in October. Last month, he committed to LSU over Notre Dame and Vanderbilt and was slated to enroll for the spring semester at Baton Rouge, La. Kiel did not publically announce his switch from LSU to Notre Dame prior to arriving in South Bend.
Three other players, cornerback Tee Shepard (Fresno, Calif./Washington Union), defensive lineman Sheldon Day (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) and running back Amir Carlise (Santa Clara, Calif./USC), have enrolled early.
Shepard is an ESPNU 150 talent and the nation's No. 7-rated CB. He selected the Irish over scholarship offers from Arizona State, California, USC, Alabama and Oregon among several others.
Day, another ESPNU 150 prospect, chose Notre Dame over offers from Florida, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Cincinnati and Tennessee among others.
Carlisle is transferring from USC. He signed with the Trojans last February as an Under Armour All-American and ESPNU 150 recruit.
