Junior Anthony Cioffi (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) has become the first Class of 2013 commitment for Rutgers, according to the Star-Ledger.
"I've always loved Rutgers. It's the ideal fit for me -- close to home and a great school academically," said Cioffi.
The Scarlet Knights are his only offer at this time but other programs including Penn State, Maryland, Boston College, UConn and Temple were showing interest.
Cioffi is a 6-foot, 180-pound prospect who plays quarterback and safety for Dayton but could end up at cornerback in Piscataway.
