RedHawks win MAC battle for Washington

Damon Washington (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland), a highly-productive two-way standout, committed Thursday night to sign with Miami-OH, the News-Herald reports.

“It all came together there at Miami,” he said. “I really like how it feels like Kirtland. I love the coaching staff and campus. It just felt right there.”

Washington, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior, selected the RedHawks over scholarship offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Ohio and Toledo.

This fall, he rushed for almost 1,900 yards and 32 touchdowns, caught 19 passes for 364 yards and six more scores, played cornerback, and returned kicks and punts, earning his second consecutive Associated Press Division V Offensive Player of the Year award.

Miami-OH's Class of 2013 is filling up. The RedHawks now hold 19 pledges with the addition of Washington.
