Speed kills. It’s an adage that has been around sports for years. It’s also an adage that has yet to be dispelled.

Oklahoma State relies on speed with everything it does on offense. Coach Mike Gundy wants his offense to run plays quicker than others. He wants his linemen to come off the ball in explosive fashion. He wants his quarterbacks to get rid of the ball swiftly. He also wants his running backs to burst through the line like a ball of fire.

Most importantly, Gundy wants his receivers to be fast, physical or a healthy combination of both. On Monday, the Cowboys picked up one of the fastest junior college players in the nation in Tyreek Hill (Garden City, Kan./Garden City Community College). A running back/wide receiver hybrid, Hill is Oklahoma State’s 21st commit and first since four-star inside linebacker Josh Mabin (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak) committed to the Cowboys on Aug. 21.
