NCF On The Trail: michael johnson

Louisville head coach Charlie Strong continues to recruit the state of Florida well.

Safety Marques Gayot (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) chose the Cardinals over California, Florida Atlantic and USF, among others.

"As of right now, yes, I am committed," Gayot said. "But I am also keeping my options open. The main part for me was that Louisville is the place to be."

Linebacker Jeff Williams (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) and safety Michael Johnson (Hialeah, Fla./Champagnat Catholic) are Sunshine State prospects that have already committed to Louisville.

Johnson and Gayot currently are the only two defensive backs in Louisville's six-man 2014 class.

Stacy Coley, WR (Oakland Park, Fla./Northeast): The 2013 Under Armour All-American was clearly the best player in the event. Whenever Coley wants to make the big play there's no defensive back in the state that can stop him. He is still working on his consistently but he has a ton of ability and a high ceiling.

Vernon Hargreaves III, DB (Tampa, Fla./Wharton): Hargreaves played safety Saturday and for good reason -- he wanted to be involved in the action. On the down side he didn't have the one-on-one battles I hoped to see but he did force teams to throw in his general direction and manned the defensive backfield beautifully.
