Four-star DT has options, taking his time

By Damon Sayles

Four-star defensive tackle Josh Frazier (Springdale, Ark./Har-Ber) isn't worried about making a rushed decision regarding his college football future. Recruiting for Frazier, to an extent, is taking a back seat until after May 23 -- the last day of spring football for his school.

Spring ball, however, could lead to a variety of options for the No. 2 player in Arkansas, as it offers Frazier -- a player with nine offers -- the chance to attract even more programs. At 6-foot-4 and 336 pounds, Frazier has offers from SEC schools Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M, in addition to Florida State, Notre Dame, USC and Arkansas State.

"It's been good. Alabama and Notre Dame just came by my school on Friday to see me," Frazier said. "They both think in their eyes that I'm the No. 1 DT in the country, and they really like what I can do physically and athletically. There are a lot more colleges getting ready to come through for spring ball, so it will start getting a little crazy at my high school soon."

Frazier is ready for the traffic, but more importantly, he's ready to show his worth in front of the schools still weighing whether to offer. Frazier finished his junior year with 65 tackles, 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hurries, and he was one of the most talked-about defensive prospects in Arkansas. He currently sits just outside the ESPN 150 as the 14th-ranked defensive tackle in the nation. The top 13 DTs are listed among the current ESPN 150.

Frazier said he'd like to attend a school with a defensive line coach that will "craft me and give me amazing technique so I can be the best DT I can be and possibly go to the NFL." He's also looking for a school that will provide him a quality education off the field.

As for current schools in the lead ...

"I have some schools in mind," Frazier said, "but I won't have any schools high on my list until May 23."
