DETROIT -- Rookie Patriots defensive tackle Cory Grissom left Thursday's preseason game against the Lions early in the fourth quarter. He was having trouble putting pressure on his left leg after remaining down following a running play, and walked slowly to the locker room with the team's medical staff.
Grissom is viewed as a long shot to earn a roster spot, but would likely be a top candidate for the practice squad. The Patriots signed him after he went undrafted out of South Florida, where he appeared in 46 games over four seasons.
The Patriots have been thin depth-wise at defensive tackle. Fellow rookie Anthony Rashad White replaced Grissom.
