FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots claimed defensive tackle Gilbert Pena off of waivers on Tuesday and waived injured offensive lineman Brice Schwab.

Pena adds depth along the defensive line, where the Patriots had grown thin recently.

He was originally signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss.

The Yonkers, N.Y., native is listed at 6-foot-4 and 317 pounds.

The Patriots now have six defensive tackles on their active roster: Vince Wilfork, Tommy Kelly, Marcus Forston, Joe Vellano, Scott Vallone and Pena.
