FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Less than 48 hours removed from a controversial penalty-turned-non-penalty at the end of a 24-20 loss to the Panthers, players mostly talked about moving forward and focusing on Sunday's game against the Broncos.
It might be easier for players to do so than family members.
Asked if he had any final thoughts on the play, quarterback Tom Brady said Wednesday: "My mom thought it was a penalty, does that count?"
Later, when asked a similar question, tight end Rob Gronkowski said: "Our moms are on the same page."
While it was a light moment, Gronkowski then added: "We're way past that. We're on to the Broncos."
The exchanges seemed to sum up the general mood around the team. They were mostly putting Monday behind them, with a slight touch of humor.
