FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Cleveland Browns have been granted permission to speak with New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia about their head-coaching vacancy, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
This is the second team to request permission to speak with Patricia, along with the Miami Dolphins, per Schefter.
The interest highlights Patricia's rise, as he hasn't interviewed for a head-coaching position prior to this year. As Schefter points out in his report, the Browns have a history with hiring coaches who have Patriots ties -- Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini and previously interviewing Josh McDaniels.
Meanwhile, as for the playoffs, the Patriots have set their practice schedule for the bye week.
Players are scheduled to be in for meetings Tuesday, with practices also scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
