Something has to give next Monday night, when the Seattle Seahawks (10-1) host the New Orleans Saints (9-2). Not only have they been the two best teams in the NFC this season, but they’ve historically been two of the best teams in the entire NFL when it comes to playing on Monday nights.

The Saints have the longest current win streak of any team on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” according to ESPN Stats & Information – a whopping nine straight games, dating back to 2008.

But the Seahawks are a close second, with seven straight Monday night wins, dating back to 2005. And Seattle has the league's all-time best Monday night win percentage (19-8, 70.4 percent).

Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been especially good on Monday nights. His nine-game win streak on “Monday Night Football” is tied with Joe Montana for third place all-time. And in those games, Brees has averaged 320 passing yards with a total of 28 touchdown passes and five interceptions.

This week’s schedule: With an 11-day span between last Thursday’s 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons and next Monday’s game, the Saints are practically in the midst of a second bye week. Players will be back on the practice field for the first time Tuesday for a “bonus” practice that will be closed to the media (and won’t require an injury report). Then they’ll resume their normal weekly routine a day later than usual on Thursday. That will be their first day that includes interviews and injury updates.

Gleason feature: Beloved former Saints safety Steve Gleason will be the subject of the NFL Network’s next installment of “A Football Life” on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. The hour-long show will feature Gleason’s career and the inspiring work he has done since being diagnosed with ALS. Here’s a sneak peek.

  • While you’re at it, you might want to be keeping tabs on the Carolina Panthers' team page and follow Panthers reporter David Newton @DNewtonESPN. The Panthers (8-3) are stalking the Saints in a tight NFC South race after winning seven straight games. And they’ve got two head-to-head showdowns still to come – including the Week 14 game that just got flexed to NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.”
  • The Saints’ team website recognized tight end Jimmy Graham’s birthday on Sunday with this video compilation of all 11 of his touchdown catches this season.
