NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints are now down to only three possible playoff scenarios -- the No. 5 seed, the No. 6 seed or missing the playoffs.

The Saints (10-5) lost their shot at the NFC South title and the No. 2 seed in the NFC when the Carolina Panthers (12-4) pulled out a 21-20 victory over the Atlanta Falcons earlier Sunday.

The Saints will clinch a wild-card playoff spot if they win this afternoon at home against Tampa Bay -- or if the Arizona Cardinals (10-5) lose at home to San Francisco. Here are the specific scenarios:
  • If San Francisco beats Arizona, the Saints will be a No. 6 seed, win or lose.
  • If the Saints win and Arizona wins, the Saints will be a No. 5 seed.
  • If the Saints lose and Arizona wins, the Saints will miss the playoffs.
