New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees continues to receive well deserved accolades for the work he’s doing both on and off the field. Tulane president Scott Cowen announced that Brees will receive a President’s Medal at the school’s commencement in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on May 17.
Through the Brees Dream Foundation, Brees and his wife Brittany have committed more than $20 million to charitable causes and academic institutions in New Orleans, according to the Saints’ press release.
Brees has received several of the most prestigious honors an athlete can earn for their combination of on- and off-the-field achievements. He was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year in 2010, was the co-recipient of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for 2006 and was the 2013 recipient of the Big Ten’s Dungy-Thompson Humanitarian Award, among other honors.
