A position-by-position look at the New Orleans Saints' draft needs, ranked in order of importance from 1-12:
Current depth chart:
P Thomas Morstead, signed through 2018
K Shayne Graham, signed through 2014
K Derek Dimke, signed through 2015
LS Justin Drescher, signed through 2016
Draft possibilities: I suppose it's possible the Saints could draft a kicker in the sixth or seventh round if there's a guy they feel strongly about. They will need to find a long-term plan at the position at some point since Graham is 36 years old. But as I've written several times this offseason, I'm high on Graham's abilities. So I don't think the Saints will make it a priority to find an upgrade in this year's draft class.
Plus, the Saints already have a young option to compete with Graham in Dimke, whom they signed to a futures contract earlier in the year. Dimke, who came out of Illinois in 2012, has spent time with the Detroit Lions, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the past two offseasons, making 8 of 9 field goal attempts in the preseason. But he hasn't cracked an active roster yet.
As for punter, there's zero chance the Saints will draft one since they have one of the best in the league in Morstead. And they might bring in competition for Drescher at long snapper, though it shouldn't be a high priority.
