The New Orleans Saints signed two rookie defensive players to fill out their 90-man training camp roster -- nose tackle Tyrone Ezell and linebacker Marcus Thompson. The Saints waived injured outside linebacker Cheta Ozougwu on Tuesday after previously waiving nose tackle Moses McCray on Monday.
Ezell (6-foot-4, 305 pounds) spent part of the summer with the Houston Texans after going undrafted out of Pittsburgh. Thompson (6-1, 250) spent part of the summer with the Miami Dolphins after going undrafted out of Rutgers.
Ezell started 24 career games with the Panthers, serving as a team captain last year as a senior. He finished his career with 77 tackles, six sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss and three passes defended.
Thompson started 26 career games with the Scarlet Knights and was named the team's co-defensive MVP as a senior last year. He led the team with 5.5 sacks last year and finished his career with 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
