METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany welcomed their fourth child and first baby girl on Monday night. Brees said they decided on the name but haven't revealed it yet because they wanted to meet her first and make sure it fit.
The proud papa tweeted a picture and this message on Tuesday morning:
Spent the early morning with our new baby girl! Brit and she are happy, healthy, and doing great! Gods greatest gift! pic.twitter.com/UilhTZ7wK6

Brees returned to practice on Tuesday morning and spoke with the media afterward, proudly announcing that she was born at 7:43 p.m., weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces, 20 inches.
"Brit and her are healthy, happy, everybody’s doing great. It just melted my heart to watch her born last night. I actually got to take the snap, so to speak, catch her on the way out. So that’s a memory I’ll have forever," Brees said. "She’s already got Daddy wrapped around her little finger, and she’s less than 24 hours old.”
Brees, who also has three boys Baylen, Bowen and Callen, said this will probably be it, even joking freely about when he's planning his vasectomy (during Masters weekend so he can have an excuse to sit on the couch). Brees said he and Brittany perfectly executed a plan they talked about when they first got married -- having three boys and then a girl so she has plenty of protectors when Daddy's not around.
Brees missed Monday’s practice because of the pending arrival, but took all the first-team reps Tuesday. It's unclear if he will play in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens.
Brees often sits out the final exhibition game. And now he has an awfully good doctor’s excuse.
