Locker Room Buzz: New Orleans Saints

By Mike Triplett

NEW ORLEANS -- Observed in the locker room after the New Orleans Saints' 49-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys:

Ingram
Carnival time: One of Saints coach Sean Payton's favorite expressions is that it's always a “crisis or a carnival” from the outside perspective after a big win or loss, but the team can't overreact either way. Sure enough, Payton and players consistently said they won't dwell on their dominant victory, just like they didn't dwell on last week's loss to the New York Jets. It helps that they have a challenging opponent -- the San Francisco 49ers -- up next.

Ingram passionate: Mark Ingram couldn't hide his excitement after the best game of his three-year career -- 145 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. And it couldn't have come at a better time. He was actually booed in the first quarter after a dropped pass. Though he constantly credited the offensive line, Ingram was proud to receive a game ball from NBC. “I know Drew [Brees] and other guys probably have a lot of them. But I'm gonna love this.” … The Saints, meanwhile, gave a game ball to the entire O-line.

Ryan's revenge: Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan isn't available to the media after games, so there was no overt celebration after his revenge win over the team that fired him. Players said they didn't see any emotional outbursts from him either. Everyone was just eager to make a statement on the field after the loss at New York.

No injury updates: The Saints didn't give any injury updates. Safety Kenny Vaccaro said he was OK after leaving with a head injury. Tight end Ben Watson wasn't available after suffering a more serious head injury.
