Running back Travaris Cadet didn’t make the trip to Miami for the preseason finale for undisclosed reasons. With Cadet out, rookie Khiry Robinson got more playing time and responded with 165 yards of total offense. But Robinson did fumble twice, which could hurt his chances of landing a roster spot.
Outside linebacker Jay Richardson, who hasn’t played in the NFL since 2010, continued to make a case for a roster spot as he recorded two sacks against the Dolphins.
Most of the starters sat against Miami, but wide receiver Marques Colston was an exception. He had missed the first three preseason games with a foot injury and the Saints wanted him to get some work. It was brief. Colston played a couple of series and caught one pass, but he seems to be on track to be ready for the regular-season opener.
