Steppin' to the AM: Nicks ready to return

August, 6, 2013
Hakeem Nicks says he is ready to resume practicing.

At a commercial shoot for New Era Caps, Nicks says he plans on working on the field after missing the last four practices with a groin injury. He could be limited. We'll see how the Giants handle their star receiver.

Nicks isn't sure if he will play in Saturday's preseason opener at Pittsburgh. That will be up to head coach Tom Coughlin and the trainers. Either way, the team and Nicks will take a cautious approach this preseason in an effort to make sure he's at full strength.

After all, Nicks says the Giants offense and his career is counting on him being healthy for all 16 games.

In case you missed it: Cornerback Trumaine McBride has been working with the second team corners and has a legit shot of making the final roster.

The 411: The Giants will practice today from 1:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. at their team facility in East Rutherford, N.J. The defensive backs will sign autographs after practice.
