Rex Ryan: Mark Sanchez still the starter

The chants for Tim Tebow will have to wait at least another week.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said on Tuesday that there is "no question" Mark Sanchez is still the starting quarterback heading into Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. But Ryan would not speculate beyond this week, according to the New York Daily News.

Sanchez had an up-and-down performance Monday in a 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans. He threw for 230 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Both picks were the result of fluke plays. One interception was a drop by tight end Jeff Cumberland at the end of the game and the other was a tipped pass before halftime. Sanchez also threw a nice touchdown pass to Cumberland.

The performance was enough for Sanchez to get Ryan's endorsement. But the Jets (2-3) have lost two in a row and the pressure to play Tebow continues to mount with each loss.

New York's game Sunday against Indianapolis (3-2) could be a must-win for the Jets and Sanchez to turn their season around.
