EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Fans will be able to check out the Jets' three-quarterback circus Sunday in living color.
Rex Ryan had been hinting for a few weeks that he might do it. This week, with McElroy making his first NFL start, Ryan finally decided to make the move for the final home game.
The coach kept it quiet all week, refusing to say how he'd stack the depth chart against the Chargers. Word leaked on Friday that Sanchez would be active; the only question was whether Tebow would dress, too.
This is funny: On the official flip card, handed out to reporters at the game, Sanchez and Tebow are both listed as the No 2 -- a tie, so to speak.
It became apparent in the pregame warmups that Tebow would play; he came out in his uniform pants, wearing cleats, thigh pads and a play sheet on his wrist.
The Tebow call might have been a last-minute decision. On Friday, the plan was to dress DB Donnie Fletcher, who was called up Wednesday from the practice squad. The plan was to use him on special teams and, in a pinch, on defense.
