The current 53-man roster, as of Saturday night:
Quick hit: Hardly an awe-inspiring group. If Smith isn't the real deal, the Jets are in trouble. Harrell is cheap insurance.
Quick hit: Mike Goodson will join the group in Week 5. Until then, who's the third-down back? I guess it'll be Powell by default.
Quick hit: The Jets wouldn't carry only five, including a rookie free agent (Spadola), unless they feel confident Holmes will be ready for the opener. Either that, or they're planning to add a veteran.
Quick hit: This group combined for only 41 catches last season. Winslow is a nice story, though, making the team after walking on at minicamp.
Quick hit: Three rookies -- Winters, Campbell and Aboushi. The latter two made it because GM John Idzik wanted to preserve his draft. They don't have an experienced swing tackle on the bench.
Quick hit: Kudos to Douzable, who played his way onto the roster. Depth is a concern, considering Ellis' back injury.
Quick hit: A little surprised that Mauga made it. Great camps by Sapp and Lansanah. The feeling around the team is that it'll be a few weeks before we see Coples (ankle).
Quick hit: There's concern with Milliner (calf), who hasn't practiced in two weeks. Aside from Landry, the safety position is a concern.
Quick hit: Same old, same old.
