FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Newly-signed WR David Nelson and soon-to-be-activated RB Mike Goodson made their practice debuts Wednesday with the New York Jets, but the news of the day involved the players who didn't practice.
It's a long list.
WR Santonio Holmes (hamstring), WR Stephen Hill (concussion), CB Dee Milliner (hamstring) and RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) didn't practice during the 30-minute window open to the media. In fact, Holmes, Hill and Milliner didn't even make an appearance on the field. Ivory warmed up but immediately repaired to the bikes.
One thing to keep in mind: With a Monday night game, the Jets have an extra day of practice, basically a rest day for players nursing injuries. Holmes and Hill, however, aren't expected to play against the Atlanta Falcons. Milliner and Ivory are up in the air. TE Kellen Winslow didn't practice, but it was a scheduled rest day. The team isn't required to release a practice report until Thursday.
Technically, Goodson isn't on the 53-man roster yet. They will activate him before Monday night, meaning they will have to cut someone to make room. He served a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
