FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Jets CB Antonio Cromartie was not at Jets practice on Friday, the last full practice before the team heads to Carolina for a 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday game. Cromartie has been going through the NFL concussion protocol after sustaining the injury in the third quarter of last Sunday’s win over Oakland.
On Thursday, Cromartie said he first experienced symptoms, a headache, in the fourth quarter but did not alert members of the team’s medical staff. On Thursday, he practiced in a limited capacity, wearing a red jersey and not taking part in any contact drills.
On Friday, he was not present at any point during the part of practice open to the media.
Given that the Jets are playing against a pass-capable offense led by Cam Newton, the team could use its best cornerback on the field. If Cromartie can’t go, Jets coach Rex Ryan has said Darrin Walls or Ellis Lankster would play opposite rookie Dee Milliner.
The only other player who appeared to miss was WR Stephen Hill, who rode the stationary bike during individual drills. Ryan has said Hlll’s knee is not getting better, and he didn’t play last week.
