FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Durable right tackle Austin Howard, who sat out two plays this past Sunday with an apparent leg injury, didn't participate in positional drills Wednesday.
Howard was in uniform -- a positive sign -- but he worked off to the side during the portion of practice open to the media. He was hurt in the second quarter of the New York Jets' loss to the Carolina Panthers and was replaced by Vladimir Ducasse. But Howard was back in for the next series and finished the game. He has started 30 consecutive games and has missed only two snaps this season.
In other injury news, linebacker Quinton Coples was seen at practice with a small cast/brace on his left wrist. He missed some positional drills, but rejoined his teammates. Tight end Kellen Winslow wasn't spotted at practice, but he usually takes Wednesday as a rest day.
Wide receiver Dwight Jones was signed to the practice squad.
