Chances are, the New York Jets will be in the quarterback market, looking for an experienced backup with the ability to push Geno Smith for the starting job. How much they're willing to spend, or give up in a trade, will tell us how much they believe in Smith. They also could draft someone.

Smith deserves first crack at the job. After that, they can consider candidates from five different pools. Here's our list of quarterbacks that deserve consideration, with an explanation for each:

Trade: Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins.

Unrestricted free agents: Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles; Chad Henne, Jacksonville Jaguars; Josh McCown, Chicago Bears; Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle Seahawks.

Likely to be released: Matt Schaub, Houston Texans.

Draft: Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M; Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville.
