FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Heck yeah Rex Ryan is a New York Rangers fan. And a Devils fan, and an Islanders fan, too. In fact, he’s a Yankees fan and a Mets fan, and he’ll root for the New York Giants if he has to. “Biggest bandwagon. I get it, yes that’s me,” Ryan admits.

“I want their teams to support us, darn right I’m going to support them,” Ryan said. “But I did grow up a Rangers fan and a Maple Leaf fan.”

So tonight when the Rangers start their quest for the NHL title, Ryan will be paying attention.

“I’ll be in front of my TV watching,” Ryan said.

The biggest Rangers fan on the New York Jets might just be Muhammad Wilkerson, who got into hockey after he went to a game in New York this season.

“I’m excited, definitely -- everybody in New York is excited,” Wilkerson said.

He is angling to attend one of these games live, but he has a one-week old son at home, also named Muhammad, and he’s not venturing out more than he has to. Tonight Wilkerson will be wearing his hat and his Ryan McDonagh jersey.

“I’m actually into it watching it on TV, too,” Wilkerson said.

It has been how he unwinds. Organized team activities followed by hockey on television. In other words, tonight will be no different.
