FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It took a little longer than expected, but the New York Jets finalized a contract late Tuesday with third-round pick Dexter McDougle, the team announced. It means the entire draft class -- 12 picks -- is under contract.
McDougle signed a standard four-year contract for $2.95 million, including a $598,000 signing bonus. The former Maryland cornerback is off to a fast start in minicamp and should compete for playing time as a rookie.
This means there's one less potential headache for the Jets as they wrap up minicamp Thursday and head into a five-week break before camp opens. A year ago, first-round pick Dee Milliner didn't sign until a few days into training camp.
