New York Jets: 2013 NFL Week 6 Power Rankings
A weekly examination of the Jets' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 32 | Last Week: 22 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The Jets improved to 3-2 on Monday night, pulling one of the biggest upsets of the year. As expected, they moved up four places in the power poll. OK, fine, but explain this: How are the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans -- both 2-3 -- ranked ahead of the Jets at No. 15 and No. 17, respectively? Is this a Texas-New York thing? The Cowboys actually moved up three spots for losing. Apparently, coming close against Peyton Manning counts for something these days.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets used this as motivation. You think I'm kidding? In the aftermath of Monday night's win over the hard-luck Atlanta Falcons, two people -- coach Rex Ryan and linebacker Calvin Pace -- brought up the ESPN.com Power Rankings from Week 1. That's when the Jets were in the No. 32 spot, and they used that for motivation. Who knew the rankings had such a long-lasting influence?
