Fans of the Twitter King, the Twitter Hitter himself, Paulie Malignaggi (age 31; 30-4), can rest easy, now that word is out that his April 29 title shot against Vyacheslav Senchenko will be shown on TV.
Integrated Sports Media will offer the bout, pitting the ex junior welter champ from Brooklyn against the 32-0 Ukrainian boxer, and undercard scraps via pay-per-view, ISM chief Doug Jacobs told NYFightBlog. Senchenko holds the WBA's world welterweight crown, for the record.
"I am very excited to be able to have the fight shown in the United States," Malignaggi said. "Many American fighters go abroad and get no TV coverage, so it's a blessing. I will become a two-time world champion and my US fans will get to watch it live!"
Malignaggi, based in LA for more than a year, is now training in NY, he told me, because Senchenko trains with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card in Hollywood, his gym, where Malignaggi works with Eric Brown. "I got to NY about two weeks ago. It hasn't bothered me at all. I'm in good spirits."
The price will be either $24.95, or $29.95, and the show will start at 1 PM ET.
