Peter Quillin confirmed to ESPN New York that he will get a title shot Oct. 20 at Barclays. The 29-year-old New Yorker will meet the WBO middleweight champ, France-based Cameroonian Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam. We reached Quillin (27-0) right before his workout, at Trinity Gym, and asked what he thought of the champ.
He's also 27-0, but hasn't fought the top-tier people. Is he fabulous or fair?
"He's fabulous enough to be the champ," Quillin said. "I watch footage of all the middleweights, especially the top 10. I spy. This is what I've worked toward my whole career, and to be able to do it in front of the people of New York, it's better than money."
Quillin, who termed the champ a "good, pure boxer," wouldn't offer a prediction or promise devastation, shock and awe. "I'm not saying. I will show," he said.
