Dan Goossen is in New York today, talking up the Saturday Super Six finale in AC, which pits his guy Andre Ward against Brit Carl Froch. He touched on a few other subjects, including his middleweight, Paul Williams, who many pundits are speculating is at the end of the line.
Williams last fought in July, and was given a gift decision against Cuban Erislandy Lara, in the minds of many who were present in AC. Goossen told NYFightBlog that anyone presuming the 30-year-old Williams is done is wrong. He said that many assumed Juan Manuel Marquez was done, and look how he looked against Manny Pacquiao. "Paul is not washed up," the promoter said. He said Williams threw a lot against Lara but simply didn't adjust to Lara's right-hand bombs. Boxrec has Williams fighting Nobuhiro Ishida on Jan. 21, but Goossen said the foe isn't cemented. Readers, do you think Long Tall Paul has peaked? Can he be a force again, or has he exceeded his mileage limit?
