Sadam Ali set to face Ronnie Warrior
By Michael Woods
Sadam Ali is doing double duty as a promoter and headliner at the Aviator Complex in Brooklyn on Saturday night.
The 2008 US Olympian, who owns a boxing gym in Bay Ridge, is trying to build a fan base in a throwback fashion. Ali, who lives in Canarsie, wants fight fans from all of Brooklyn to latch on to him and root for him.
He had two sources of worry when his original foe, Jermaine White (17-5), was switched out on Friday. Ali had to switch gears as a promoter and fighter, with White telling him that he was having back and leg problems. Ronnie Warrior (13-7-1), who was on standby in case this occurred, will sub in. The card will be available on pay per view.
At the Friday weigh-in, Ali was 147 pounds, and Warrior was 145 1/2.
The 24-year-old , who holds a 15-0 record, chatted with NYFightBlog, along with co-trainer Lennie Wilson. They talked about the card, Ali's strengths, weakness and his fighting style.
