CHICAGO -- With only hours remaining before the Brooklyn Nets take on the Chicago Bulls in Game 3 of the first round of the NBA playoffs Thursday night, Joe Johnson's status remains unknown.
The shooting guard called his foot injury "a little minor setback," before Thursday morning's shootaround at the United Center, but the team already was making preparations for possibly taking on the Bulls without him.
"We'll see if he can play," head coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "If he can play, he's going to play."
Getting anything more out of Carlesimo about the injury was futile as he repeated the same answer.
Johnson reiterated before Thursday morning's shootaround that he aggravated an old plantar fasciitis injury in his left foot during the first quarter of Game 2 on Monday. The injury has nagged him since February but not to this extent.
"I'll do the necessary things I need to do to get back out on the court," Johnson said.
