POSITION: Power Forward
PLAYER STATS: Plumlee averaged 17.1 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils in his senior season. He shot 59.9 percent from the field and 68.1 percent from the free throw stripe.
DID YOU KNOW? Mason’s brother Miles plays for the Indiana Pacers. Nets GM Billy King also went to Duke. Mason is the first pick in the Jason Kidd coaching era.
CHAD FORD’S POSITIVES: Mobile, athletic big man; explosive leaper; plays with great energy; solid midrange jump shooter; can put the ball on the floor; good shot-blocker and rebounder.
FORD’S NEGATIVES: Needs to add strength; still working on his low-post game; didn’t play a key role on offense for Duke.
ROLE PLAYER: Plumlee is a four-year college player, so the hope is he’ll be able to contribute right away and possibly be a rotation player. The Nets were obviously extremely active Thursday night, so Plumlee’s selection will be more of a sidebar. His role will be unknown pending what the team’s roster looks like next season.
