Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd dropped to 0-2 (though the games don't actually count) following his team’s 93-86 loss to the Miami Heat on Monday in its second summer league game in Orlando, Fla.

Taking control: According to reporters in Orlando, Kidd did more during timeouts, leading the huddle and drawing up some plays. That's progress. In Kidd’s coaching debut Sunday, his lead assistant, Lawrence Frank, handled those duties, while Kidd watched and learned. Kidd sat on the bench between Frank and John Welch, who is expected to be named to the staff this week.

Play of the game: In the first quarter, Mason Plumlee grabbed a rebound, put the ball on the floor, brought it up and then whipped a perfect bounce pass to Tornike Shengelia for a dunk. The team’s first-round pick has been extremely impressive thus far, displaying his athleticism, high motor and high basketball IQ. On Monday, Plumlee finished with 23 points and nine rebounds. Tyshawn Taylor had 25 points.

Well-behaved: After getting called for his first technical foul for leaving the coach’s box late in Sunday’s 76-67 loss to the Detroit Pistons, Kidd went “T-less” Monday.

UP NEXT: Nets vs. Jazz, Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET.
