EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Paul Pierce wants to see the Nets be the aggressors against Washington on Friday night.
The Nets want to avoid a repeat of last Sunday when they came off a big win over Miami only to come out flat against Orlando and get whipped by the Magic on the road. The Nets hit the road again in Washington in another game they are expected to win. Pierce wants to see the Nets keep the momentum they have from their easy win over Utah on Tuesday.
"That’s what we’re trying to develop in this early part in the season, to put good games back-to-back-to-back," Pierce said. "But it’s with a mentality. We can’t rest on our laurels like we did [after] the Miami [in] and expect teams [like Orlando] to lay down for us. We have to really take it to teams every night.
"We’re a team that’s going to have a target on our backs every night," Pierce added. "So we have to expect everybody’s best. So even though Washington hasn’t been playing well, we have to expect their best."
Fueling the Jet: During Nets practice, Jason Terry buried a couple of three-pointers and pumped his fist.
The Jet has made 8-of-15 three-pointers so far on the season in games and looks like he will be a key piece coming off the bench this season for the Nets. And he says he's not even at 100 percent yet. The veteran guard says he's still not at full strength after undergoing surgery on his knee at the end of last season.
"It’s getting stronger," Terry said. "I felt the last game, though I didn’t play a lot of minutes. In warmups, I definitely felt real good and fresh. Today was another great practice for me."
"I’m starting to make moves to the basket," Terry added. "I’m feeling more explosive and that’s the key for me. Everybody knows I can shoot. But my other asset is being able to get into the lane, penetrate, make plays for others."
Terry says he's been told he should be at full strength by late December or early January.
Shengelia and Taylor have not appeared in any games yet this season and will join Springfield on Friday.
