EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Nets won't have Deron Williams on Tuesday night against Denver to ease the sting of losing Paul Pierce to a fractured hand.

And they may have to also face the Knicks on Thursday without their starting point guard. Williams (ankle) will miss his seventh straight game with a left ankle injury and Jason Kidd could either start Tyshawn Taylor or Shaun Livingston against the Nuggets. Kidd started Taylor in the Nets' last game, a win over Memphis.

Williams is also already listed as doubtful for what will certainly feel like a big game against the Knicks. Both teams are struggling out of the gate and neither wants to enhance their struggles with a loss to their rival. The Knicks have lost nine straight games.

Williams, Kirilenko, Terry, Pierce, Kevin Garnett (rest) and Brook Lopez (rest) did not practice on Monday.

Kidd said he had no further update on Williams' ankle injury. Williams has played a total of 18 minutes in two of the last 10 games after spraining and re-spraining his left ankle.
