Lopez has missed the past two games after re-spraining his left ankle Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Lopez thought he was going to play Monday night, but he was overruled by the team’s medical staff.
“It felt good to me, [but] I guess it didn’t look right to the people that make the calls,” Lopez said.
If it were up to Lopez, he would’ve played.
“I feel I definitely would’ve. But they felt it was better for me not to, so I have to respect that decision,” he said.
Shooting guard Joe Johnson hit a career-high 10 3-pointers, scored a season-high 37 points and the Nets won in a rout without their starting center.
“He was all right,” Lopez deadpanned. “I think he missed yesterday, so it wasn’t that great, but if I had to pick one game this season to sit out and watch, that was the one. It was fun to watch.”
For what it’s worth, Lopez does think he’ll play Wednesday night.
“I don’t expect to get overruled tomorrow, but we’ll see when the time comes,” he said. “In my mind, I feel confident I’ll be playing tomorrow, but then again, how’d that work out last time? You guys can believe me, though, I promise.”
