NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd said center Kevin Garnett will “most likely not” play in Friday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons.

Kidd’s inclination is to rest the 37-year-old veteran in the second game of a back-to-back set in order to conserve Garnett, who played just 18 minutes in Thursday night’s 103-89 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Asked about his comfort playing center, Garnett, who has made known his dislike for the position, joked, “Another question, man. F------ hate the 5. That it? I hate the 5. Now I am done.”

Alan Anderson scored 19 of his game-high 22 points off the bench in the second half.

He scored 11 straight points from the 2:27 mark of the third quarter to the 10:40 mark of the fourth quarter.

“I started attacking, stopped settling for the 3 so much,” Anderson said. “I just started attacking and once we started doing that, it started opening up the lane [for] kickouts, penetrating and dishing. Everything started opening up.”

Added Anderson when asked about his personal goals going forward: “I just want to win, man. I want to win it all. No matter how much I’m playing, I want to be a part of it. I just have to be ready to do whatever they need me to do.”

Anderson tried to walk out on the media, but Joe Johnson gave him guff about it, jokingly throwing in a couple profanities, which drew laughter from the surrounding reporters.

Jason Terry, who is healthy, was a DNP coach’s decision. Terry had gone 1-for-9 from the field in his previous two games.

• Johnson (knee), Andrei Kirilenko (calf) and Andray Blatche (hip) all returned to the lineup, and all three said they felt OK.
