NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets GM Billy King reiterated that the team’s goal is for Kevin Garnett, who will miss his 18th straight game to back spasms on Wednesday night against the New York Knicks, to return sometime this weekend -- either on Friday against Detroit or Saturday against Philadelphia.
“We’re targeting this weekend to get him back playing, and then once he comes back he’ll probably be limited minutes a little bit the first game ... but the goal is to get him back on the court this weekend,” King said on ESPN NewYork 98.7 FM’s “The Michael Kay Show.”
Andrei Kirilenko, who will miss his sixth straight game on Wednesday night due to a sprained left ankle, is also expected to return this weekend, King said. The Nets had been hopeful that Kirilenko could return mid-week.
Marcus Thornton will return to the lineup on Wednesday night following a two-game absence due to a sore lower back.
