What it means: The Nets (44-36) clinched at least the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Their magic number to clinch the No. 5 seed is one with two games left.
The Nets gained control of Sunday night’s game in the third quarter with a 15-0 run, turning a four-point deficit into a 70-59 lead. They shot 46.6 percent and outrebounded the Magic, 43-31.
Johnson has hit at least one 3-pointer in 29 consecutive games. Williams (16 points, five assists, four steals) has recorded a steal in 29 straight games -- continuing the NBA’s longest active streak.
Paul Pierce suffered what appeared to be another stinger in his right shoulder in the third quarter. Pierce got wacked by Kyle O'Quinn on a drive to the rim and came out of the game in obvious pain. He did stay on the bench rather than going into the locker room, which he has done before because of the same injury. He did not return to the game. Pierce had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 19 minutes.
Garnett had three points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and five turnovers in 19 minutes -- his most since returning from back spasms.
Mason Plumlee continues to shine. He had 17 points and 11 rebounds -- his fourth double-double of the season. Plumlee has missed just eight shots in the entire month of April on 46 attempts. Andray Blatche, playing for the first time since last Saturday in Philadelphia, had four points in seven minutes.
Mirza Teletovic produced 20 points off the bench.
