The Boston Celtics, with the No. 17 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, which was acquired in the blockbuster deal that brought Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn, selected Kentucky swingman James Young.

The Nets still owe the Celtics their unprotected firsts in 2016 and 2018. Boston also has the right to swap firsts with Brooklyn in 2017.

Garnett, 38, is under contract for next season at $12 million, and all indications are that, baring some unforeseen occurrence, he continues his career with the Nets.

Pierce can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Because the Nets have his Bird Rights, they can offer the 36-year-old more money than any other team.

The trade overall now looks like this:

Nets receive: Garnett, Pierce (free agent), Jason Terry (traded)

Celtics receive: Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries (free agent), MarSon Brooks (traded), Keith Bogans (played six games, excused for “personal reasons”), Kris Joseph (waived), Young, 2016 first, 2018 first, possible 2017 first swap.
