Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams gutted out a 24-point, eight-assist night despite being hobbled by a right leg injury he suffered in the third quarter of the team’s 102-97 victory over the Boston Celtics on Thursday.

Williams suffered the injury with 10:17 left in the third when he got tangled up with Celtics point guard Leandro Barbosa while making a spin move. D-Will was noticeably limping, but remained in the game following a timeout.

“I don’t even know what it is. It’s the area in-between my Achilles and my calf,” Williams said. “It’ll be all right by Sunday (against Sacramento). That’s all that matters.”

Williams said the area was already sore before the game, but wouldn’t specify why.

“It had been bothering me pretty much the entire first half,” Williams said. “But then I don’t know if I got kicked or kneed in it on that spin move, and it just was downhill for there.”

Williams shot just 6-for-17 from the field, but went 6-for-6 from the free-throw stripe in the final 43 seconds to help the Nets pull out their first significant victory in their new borough.
