Dwight Howard to Houston
By Mike Mazzeo
Dwight Howard is Houston's problem now.
The franchise center, known for his indecisiveness, will be signing with the Rockets, the All-Star center told our own Stephen A. Smith on Friday night.
On Dec. 14, 2011, 583 days ago, colleagues Marc Stein and Chad Ford reported that the Nets were in serious talks to acquire Howard from the Magic in a blockbuster trade.
The Dwightmare had begun.
A synopsis: The Nets tried to trade for Howard on several occasions.
Howard said he wanted to play for Brooklyn and only Brooklyn and demanded a trade there.
Everyone figured Howard was going to opt out and the Nets were going to be able to sign him as a free agent.
It turned about to be a big waste of time.
Nets fans, of course, have moved on from this, and Brooklyn will go into next season as a solid Eastern Conference contender, sporting a possible starting lineup of Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Brook Lopez.
It is interesting to note that Howard has never played at Barclays Center before.
It should be fun when Howard finally comes to town.
