By Mike Mazzeo

The Brooklyn Nets had the third-highest luxury-tax bill last season, paying out $12,883,647, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.

The Los Angeles Lakers paid the most in taxes ($29,259,739), while the Miami Heat were second ($13,346,242).

The NBA announced Tuesday night that the 2013-14 salary cap has been set at $58.679 million, while the tax level has been set at $71.748 million.

According to Stein, at this early juncture, the Nets are projected to be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $72 million to $77 million in taxes, which would be an NBA record.
