Evans on Smith's title guarantee: 'LOL'
By Mike Mazzeo
Nets reserve big man Reggie Evans doesn't think much of J.R. Smith's championship guarantee.
Responding to a tweet with a link to an article about Smith's guarantee, Evans tweeted, "lol."
Smith told youth golfers Saturday during a question-and-answer session that he was "100 percent sure" the Knicks would end their 40-year title drought this season, according to the New York Post.
The Nets and Knicks have engaged in a war of words throughout the offseason.
New Net Paul Pierce fired the first shots when he said he hated the Knicks and told ESPN New York 98.7 FM that it was time for the Nets to “start running this city.”
Smith told ESPNNewYork.com Saturday that Pierce was just “bitter” about being traded by the Boston Celtics.
“Just know that his words have consequences, and he’s going to pay for them,” Smith said.
The Nets and Knicks will meet for the first time this season at Barclays Center on Dec. 5.
